The Chapel Gallery in Ormskirk (near Southport) is currently holding their 2012 open exhibition, it contains a wide selection of truly original & outstanding talented artists in various disciplines. I went along to the preview night and was amazed at the number of people who had attended to view the contemporary work on offer.
One piece that caught my eye on that night was a screenprint & collage of mixed media called 'Rouleur' by the artist Emma Newman, which on my return trip to the gallery a few days later was duly purchased for myself!
Whilst at the gallery I also took the oportunity to take some photographs as several of our own 'Cross Street Arts' studio artists have work on display, so, here are a selection of some of those works for you;
"Glut" - Mixed Media;
Jane Fairhurst
"Giverny" - Acrylic on Canvas;
David Stanley
"Dean Light" - Acrylic on Canvas;
David Stanley
"Time and Tide" - Textile: Crochet and wire mesh;
Joyce Coulton
"The last time... my Dad was in my studio" - Oil on Canvas; *commended for best portrait*
Stephen Cunliffe
"Oyston Mill" - Monochrome Photographic Print;
Robina Llewellyn
These are just a few snap shots of some of the works on display, as you can see, this is a richly diverse selection of work from our studio alone, from painting, sculpture, photography to textile work.. so why not pop along yourself to the Chapel Gallery and see for youself some of the best contemporary artwork currently on display.
The exhibition is on now and runs till the 19th September.
